About Us
Tropicair is a private company established in 1998 to service the outlying and remote ports of Papua New Guinea. Tropicair is a small charter company that employs 30 personnel, including 10 pilots, all based in Port Moresby, and has its own terminal and office facilities at Jacksons Airport in Port Moresby.
Our management team are no strangers to Papua New Guinea with over 40 years combined operational experience in the aviation industry. We are a professional experienced committed team that can provide you a high level of service.
The fleet comprises one King Air B200, one King Air C90 and three Cessna 208 Grand Caravans, with all 5 aircraft fully IFR equipped including twin Garmin 530 and 430 GPS and Pratt and Whitney gas turbine powered. The aircraft are maintained by reputable and experienced service engineers in both PNG and Cairns, Australia. Engine overhauls are conducted in Brisbane by the engine manufacturer Pratt and Whitney.
The flying in PNG can be some of the most challenging yet rewarding and enjoyable due to the unique terrain and weather conditions encountered. A large and rugged mountain range spans the country east to west with peaks up to 14700 ft AMSL. The coastlines are pristine, scattered with reefs and untouched islands.
Over the past 12 years Tropicair has conducted operations throughout the country and is regular air transport for many hundreds of Kokoda Trail visitors. Topicair also routinely flies into West New Britain, Woodlark Islands, Lihir, Misima and Lae with freight and passenger charters for companies such as Woodlark Mining, New Britain Palm Oil, Zenag Chickens, PNG Forest Product, Digicel and many others.
